How Census Data are organized:
Census Variables
The second organizing principle, in parallel with determining geographic boundaries, is selecting the thematic content. Consultations are held in the years prior to each census to reach broad agreement among all interested parties on which questions will be included. In 2001, 59 questions were asked as part of the census questionnaire. The following themes are developed from these data: :
- Population and Dwelling Counts
- Age and Sex
- Marital status of Canadians
